Happy Friday
Happy almost summer Friday guys. Hope you all have a good weekend.
Happy almost summer Friday guys. Hope you all have a good weekend.
Here are some gorgeous peonies I took heaps of photos of a while back (it’s difficult to take a bad photo of them); they’re the loveliest flowers but quite expensive. It was worth it though, to be able to walk past these luxurious flowers on my dining table for a few days (we live a modest life but[read more…]
Happy Halloween all (if you celebrate it that is). Here are some spooky stories if you’re game! Haunted places and ghost stories of Brisbane; and Village of the Dead: The Anjikuni Mystery
I love historic cemeteries, they’re fascinating, poignant and peaceful all at the same time. Lafayette Cemetery in New Orleans is on my wish list (I’m weird, I know!) and when I backpacked around Europe years ago, like a lot of gen-Xers, I visited Jim Morrison’s grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery which was sort of touristy yet the cemetery itself was[read more…]
It’s so lovely out at the moment. I took some of these on a walk a week back. Have a beautiful weekend all.
I’m always heartened to see so many folks loving books as I do. Two lovely places to go in Brisbane are pictured below: The Clarence Corner Book Shop and Café in Woolloongabba; and The Annerley Community Book Shop and Neighbourhood Centre So turn off your devices and visit them for a bit if you enjoy[read more…]
This man-made wetland down the road from us is a lovely little calm hideaway right in the middle of our suburb. With friendly quacking ducks, birds, butterflies and greenery and featuring a boardwalk, I love wondering down there, taking photos and just sitting in the sun. If anyone lives near me, it’s a sweet little place! [read more…]
I took these a while back at the start of winter and looking at them now brings back the warmth I felt after being in a cold house. Get some sunshine this weekend all.
Have a good weekend all ♥
The best part of winter. Happy Friday!
Despite autumn starting months ago, up until last week I was wearing shorts and t-shirts, my allergies were playing up and my herbs were flourishing with unseasonal warm weather. Here are some pics I took this past weekend around our neighbourhood to show how spring like everything still looks. The cute house across the street has[read more…]
I’ve been having fun with tilt shift on Photoshop recently with some old film photos of mine. They’re at their best much bigger, so if you feel inclined, head over to my Flickr and have a look.
Spooky Mulder hey?! I love this red moon/lunar eclipse business although I do wish I was out in the country somewhere or near the sea to take proper photos.
The 80s! The era of the power ballad, rock, girl bands, punk and pop music. The era of sitting around endlessly discussing Morrissey, the Pixies and Joy Division with our mates but then going home and secretly dancing in our bedrooms to Wham! or pretending we were Whitney Houston or Madonna. And who hasn’t sung along really super loudly to Bon[read more…]
My much loved, very old Pooh Bear and some of my other favourite things. Have a cosy weekend!
I’ve been suffering from app envy lately. Let me just say, I have no desire to own an iPhone (or any kind of smart phone) ever, and love to make my own simple filters in Photoshop although ….. I do occasionally get jealous of some of the filters smart phone folks get to use. I spotted the watercolour effect recently which I immediately[read more…]
This song by 90s band Deadstar brings back so many memories. Happy Friday.
Have a lovely one!
Although I was only a babe at the time, I love anything 1970s and the music is the best bit. So the other night I stayed up until the early hours and created a 1970s music collection; it was so much fun, the time just flew by. I’ve managed to capture early new wave, disco,[read more…]
I’ve always loved Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune. It’s featured in the movie Frankie and Johnny with Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer (if I see that this movie’s on TV, no matter how late it is, I always watch, I just love it to bits). This piece makes me feel sad, wistful, hopeful and dreamy all together and whenever I[read more…]
Can’t wait to see this! I grew up with INXS, like a lot of Gen Xers and will sadly always remember the day Michael died (you know you’re getting on a bit when you start saying things like, I remember when such and such died). Youtube video from: INXSVEVO Images from TV series: INXS: Never Tear Us Apart,[read more…]
It’s Australia Day here in our beautiful country. Stay safe and happy everyone. (One of my old film photos of Sea World)

I love this dreamy, 80s inspired song (theme song for the movie Drive), written by College and vocals by Toronto based twosome Electric Youth. Yay, happy Friday! Top image via: yeti music Lower image belongs to me
These gave me a good laugh. US President Obama’s response (and with perfect comedic timing I might add) to Matt Damon – BURN .. and the celebrities being good sports reading out mean tweets video which has been going around. Ok and the last one is definitely not-safe-for-work so be aware. Videos from: shadow huntaz and Jimmy Kimmel Live
I love this interesting and really empathetic show! Sacrilegious as it is to say, I think it’s even better than Downton Abbey. Based on the best selling memoirs by Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife depicts a group of young midwives and nuns in east London in the 1950s, the incredible and intimate work they did delivering babies and caring for the[read more…]
I seem to be in a musical mood lately. I heard this song by Canadian Indie band Metric from their album Synthetica on the radio a while back and thought it was lovely; lead singer Emily Haines’ pretty, sweet voice with sort of bubbly, shiny music and cool lyrics. I love it. (Image is my own photo)
The Spring giveaway has now closed and the winner randomly selected and contacted (congrats Peas from Eatpress!). Thank you to everyone who entered and for all of your delicious Spring inspired dishes.
