Does anyone remember this late 90s show? It was way ahead of its time, yet seriously underrated, which is probably why it only ever lasted one season. I love revisiting old shows and watching this now makes me realise how funny and heart warming, yet dark it was. The writing, comedic timing, characters and storylines were subtle and insightful and practically everybody was in it! Much like[read more…]
Hah, loved this so much! Go Kevin. Top image from movie: Footloose, 1984, USA, Paramount Pictures Video is the property of the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon
I’ve always really liked the coolly enigmatic British actress Charlotte Rampling; she’s often in disturbing yet fascinating movies (and I love that, in Britain at least, female actors are still going strong in decent roles as they become older). Some of her movies I’ve seen lately include: Swimming Pool (trailer below) Never Let Me Go I, Anna[read more…]
Can’t wait to see this! I grew up with INXS, like a lot of Gen Xers and will sadly always remember the day Michael died (you know you’re getting on a bit when you start saying things like, I remember when such and such died). Youtube video from: INXSVEVO Images from TV series: INXS: Never Tear Us Apart,[read more…]
Ant forwarded this video of the Electric Daisy Carnival to me the other day, it’s epic! Aside from how awesome it looks, the editing is incredible. Also, the fairy wings, happy faces and dance music reminds me of the 90s/early 2000s in such a fun and sparkly way. Video belongs to: Electric Daisy Carnival
I love this guy; he’s a brilliant, yet underrated actor, makes some really interesting, often off-the-beaten track movies and manages to look completely different in every single one of them …. to the point where I sometimes don’t recognise him. Also he’s kinda cute and has brilliant comedic timing in that sort of effortless way. Some of Sam’s new[read more…]
A few years back, I shared this beautiful short film directed by Andrea Dorfman depicting a poem by Tanya Davis, which sort of changed my life. I spotted recently that an illustrated, hard cover pocket book has been released, based on the much loved poem in the short film. Video belongs to: Andrea Dorfman
I’m really enjoying this series. Like any child of the 80s, I grew up learning about cold war politics and still find it fascinating. The Americans, set in 1981 USA, stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys depicting undercover soviet agents masquerading as a seemingly normal, suburban American family. With it’s references to the KGB and FBI, loyalty to the[read more…]
These gave me a good laugh. US President Obama’s response (and with perfect comedic timing I might add) to Matt Damon – BURN .. and the celebrities being good sports reading out mean tweets video which has been going around. Ok and the last one is definitely not-safe-for-work so be aware. Videos from: shadow huntaz and Jimmy Kimmel Live
I heard the song Falling by Californian band Haim recently, comprising of three sisters, Alana, Este and Danielle with drummer, Tim. Falling will feature on their upcoming debut album which will be released in the US summer. The song is so pretty with such a relaxed, youthful sound you can’t help but be drawn in.[read more…]
I found this song clip recently by Canadian indie band, Half Moon Run via one of my regular reads, the enchanting space Wonderings & Wanderings. I like it a lot. Image via Video belongs to: Half Moon Run

I’ve always loved this 2007 short animation film from the National Film Board of Canada. Haunting, dark, wonderful, spooky, trippy and really clever. Scroll down for a link to the video. Ok this is exciting and a bit special. I spied Chef Rachel Khoo’s Little Paris Kitchen via French for Foodies recently. Click on the links to read her fascinating story. Rachel has a show on BBC2, three cookbooks under her belt, (the third, The Little Paris Kitchen, has just been released in the UK) and the smallest underground[read more…]

British humour, you have to love it. “that is an old apple isn’t it? When did you buy that?” “last week.” “last week! “they’ve brought out two apples since then!” Image via Video belongs to: BBC
This cool little movie about a depressed 16 year old (played by Keir Gilchrist, known for United States of Tara) who unwittingly admits himself to an adult psychiatric ward, is an absolute gem. The movie has a number of clever, charming fantasy scenes played out in our lad’s mind which give a contemporary sort of alternative feel to the movie as well[read more…]
This short film by Canadian filmmaker Andrea Dorfman is so touching and sweet and broaches a subject most people don’t want to think about very often. The combination of the youthful, sweet voice, the simple yet defining words, the distinctly European feel and the cute and clever editing make it one of my favourite videos. Something for everyone to think about as[read more…]
